Receipts

During his tenure at the Albany Academy and Princeton University, Joseph Henry kept records of not just his lab experiments, but also his receipts and purchases of lab equipment, chemicals, and traveling expenses. These receipts give insight not just into the state of science in the early 19th century, but also into the life of a remarkable intellectual who spent much time traveling between his work in New Jersey and major urban centers such as New York.
