(一)台湾的历史与现状[1]
最近系[2] 里请了一位从台湾来的教授给同学们做了一个演讲,题目是《台湾的政治与认同》。我对这个题目很感兴趣。这位教授的英文不太流利[3] ,但是因为有英文翻译[4] ,他的演讲,我基本上[5] 都听懂了。
我的父母是从台湾来的,从我懂事[6] 以来,他们就告诉我,我们是中国人,而台湾是中国的一部分。所以,我从小就认为:台湾人就是中国人。可是这位台湾教授在演讲的时候却说,台湾人认为自己是中国人的比例[7] 越来越低了,尤其是80、90以后出生的台湾人,百分之八十以上,觉得自己就是台湾人,跟中国人完全没有关系。这让我觉得很惊讶。
据他说,台湾人在认同上离中国越来越远,既有历史原因,也跟大陆、台湾的政策有关系。1895年,中国和日本发生了“甲午战争”[8] ,中国被日本打败了。清朝政府除了赔款[9] 以外,还把台湾割让[10] 给了日本,从此,台湾开始了50年的殖民地历史。有些台湾人对这段历史的解释是:清朝政府根本没把台湾当回事,打了败仗[11] ,就把台湾当[12] 一件礼物一样送给日本。让台湾成了“亚洲[13] 的孤儿[14] ”。1945年,二战[15] 结束了,日本战败[16] 了,台湾又还给了中国。
二战结束以后,中国发生了内战[17] ,蒋介石领导的国民党非常腐败,短短几年(1945-1949)就被毛泽东领导的共产党打败了。1949年,国民政府退[18] 到了台湾。
看看这一百多年的历史,台湾从1895到1945年,是日本人的殖民地,1945以后,台湾又一直在国民党的统治[19] 底下。台湾人总觉得自己没有管理[20] 过自己,而总是接受别人的管理。这种感觉是很不好的。对这段历史有了一些了解以后,我对台湾人的认同,多了一些同情[21] 。
1945年之后,国民党在台湾表面上推行民主[22] ,但实际上是一党独裁[23] 。言论和新闻的自由是非常有限[24] 的。台湾老百姓对这样的政治制度越来越不满,他们要求成立新的政党[25] 。1975年蒋介石死了,他的儿子蒋经国很快就成了台湾的领导人[26] ,他比他父亲开明[27] ,并有计划地从事[28] 经济和政治的改革,使台湾在短短几年之内成了“亚洲四小龙”之一。台湾的经济起飞[29] 带来了政治上的改革。
