Project Description

For my project, I am building a 8″ x 3′ skateboard from 7 plys of maple veneers. I also built the press required to give the board its proper form.

Fabrication Process

I will bind seven plys of maple veneers using wood glue to create an uncut version of the board. The board should sit inside the form press for 24-48 hours to give it the nose and tail curves. After this, I will use the CNC router to cut the board into its proper, rounded shape. Finally, once the board is formed correctly, I will sand it smooth and apply danish oil to finish the outer layers.
