Project Description

We are continuing to build out our surfboard for the second half of the course. Up until this point, we have shaped the board out of EPS foam using a combination of saws, sandpaper, and planers. We then applied three layers of fiberglass cloth to the surface of the board using epoxy resin, and laminated artful designs into the construction. Finally, we 3D printed a leash plug. Throughout the spring semester, we plan on adding additional design elements to the board and finishing its construction. We are adhering 1/8″ inch thick acrylic cutouts (cut using a CNC machine) to the tail of the board to serve as a textured grip for the back foot of the surfer. Furthermore, we are installing the leash plug using an appropriately sized drill bit. Finally we will install the FCS fin systems, again using drill bits with commensurate size.
