Project Description

For our project we first investigated the best type of wood that should be used to fabricate the coffee table. Upon researching the best types, we are using a hardwood pine as it would be the most affordable and optically pleasing for the wooden table. It has a glossy appearance when finished and will provide us with a durable long-lasting table. Next, will use 4 hinges, which will allow us to attach the cabinet doors to one side of the table. The table will have four legs, which will be attached to the bottom and top surfaces with four L-brackets per leg. After doing research into the components that would be needed to create a fridge from scratch within the table, we’ve decided that it would be much more economical to simply use a mini fridge that we already have in our room. We have purchased two metal handles to open each cabinet on the front of the table. The table will be enclosed on all four sides with thin pine plywood, allowing the top surface to hang over by a half inch on all sides. Finally, the table surface will be carved with a Princeton Hockey Design (using the x-carve machine) to add an artistic touch to the project. All of the wood will be coated in a wood stain, to provide a shiny finish.
