Project Description

My project is a cabinet that folds out into a table. In the cabinet formation, it is 3 ft tall x 2 ft wide x 1 ft deep and, in the table formation, it is 3 ft tall x 2 ft wide x 4 ft deep. It is made of birch plywood that is stained with a black cherry wood stain and finished with lacquer. There is a base consisting of the the back, bottom, top, sides, and middle shelf which is all one solid piece. The cabinet front has a frame that is attached to two doors (by hinges and a magnetic catch) and also to the legs of the table (also by hinges and a magnetic catch). These cabinet front is then attached to the base by two hinges and secured by a magnetic catch. The motivation for this project was to create a piece of functional tiny house furniture that could be useful in a small house or an apartment.
