Both HF’s Library of Congress catalog cards and SD’s almondmilk got us wondering about problems of categorization.
Week 5 (Sept. 30)

LS brought a dinosaur from New Orleans with a storied life and ME’s apple sent us into a spiral of paradise, snakes, teachers, knowledge, and Apple logos.
Week 6 (Oct. 7)

AR’s burned diploma in a jar and NP’s sororal baptismal icon commenced the session, displaying two ways objects can set off thinking.
Week 7 (Oct. 14) FALL BREAK
Week 8 (Oct. 21)

NI brought us a selection of zines from Hong Kong, all excellent examples of DIY political and aesthetic experimentation.

And IH brought the well-travelled Paddington keychain, sullied with experience.
Week 9 (Oct. 28)

JSG brought us Legos and the voices of children naming the objects they’d constructed from them. We made our own objects to gift to them.

EB brought an object that makes a sound without saying a word.
Week 10 (Nov. 4)

LDVG brought a Patsy Mink American quarter of Equadorian provenance.

N-AL brought a model of one of Lygia Clark’s Bichos (critters) for us to fold infinitely.
Week 11 (Nov. 11)

KD’s object showed DuBois’ talents across disciplines, from the social sciences to literature.

The real-seemingness of DA’s object made some of us queasy.
Week 12 (Nov. 18)

NG+MJ’s shared Cretaceous object took us from the classroom to the sidewalk to the gym to the billiard table to the artists’ studio to the makeup kit.
