Mercer Street Friends Center

Mercer Street Friends Center has been helping Trenton neighborhoods since the late 1950s. We're hoping to tap your memories about this important Trenton institution where Harlan worked and socialized. We were lucky to find these photos and documents in boxes in their basement. We're particularly interested because the organization mentored Harlan Joseph, and many kids he knew. It also was a place where he worked in youth recreation programs and learned about community action, a theme of our project. Click on the first photo to begin.
