We are curious about the last sentence in this paragraph in a New York Times article on April 1968 from a national perspective.  Do you know what the reporters meant when they said “The shooting occurred AS a crowd went to the victim’s aid”?  Did the crowd go to Harlan Joseph’s aid before he was shot?  How big was the crowd?  Was it mostly high school students?  Who was there?  Any details you remember or heard second-hand is helpful.
