There are two people on each side with each board 20 feet away from each other. One person tosses four bags (separately) onto the opposing board and the person next to him does the same. Points are accumulated for bags that land on the board as well as bags that go in the center hole of the board. The speakers were placed on the side of each board and they required electronics in order to be made. The board was made from ½ inch plywood and it will be 48” x 24”. The front of each board stands 2.5 inches tall and the back of each board were made to be 12 inches off of the ground.[/vc_column_text][vc_zigzag el_border_width=”8″ css=”.vc_custom_1553988641874{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text]

Technical Background

[/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_column_text]Corn-hole is an outdoor game involving two teams in which players throw bean bags onto a wooden board on the opposite end of the playing area. The goal of the game is to accumulate points between partners until they reach 21 points. Three points are awarded to a team if they land a bean bag through the hole in the center of the board and point is granted if the team lands a bean bag on the board. Play continues until the first team reaches 21 points and thus is the winner. However, corn-hole is much more than a simple outdoor activity. The game utilizes horizontal projectile motion to optimize throwing accuracy. The equation for projectile motion is as follows:

X f = X 0 + V x t

Where X f is the final position (where the opposing board is), X 0 is the initial position (of the board you are throwing from), V x is the initial velocity (of the bean bag in m/s) and t is the time (how long the bean bag takes to reach the opposing board X f in seconds). As evident in the equation, contestants must manage how fast they release the bean bag and at what height they throw the bean bag. It is common that beginners tend towards throwing the bean bag with less arc which makes it more difficult to accumulate points. The bean bag should be thrown with a high arc so that the bean bags lands flat on the board and does not slide off of the board. Once mastering the simple technique of tossing, players can add spin to the bean bag in order to prevent additional movement once the bag hits the board. In order to add spin, the index finger should wrap around the side of the bag with the middle finger and ring finger on the bottom of the bag. Lastly, the thumb sits on top of the bag and the bottom two fingers are used to initiate spin by controlling the center of the bag. Overall, there is no one technique that will guarantee points for every throw – in fact, many factors effect the likelihood that the bean bag will land on the board including air resistance, distance between boards, and bean bag weight. Players should practice a variety of techniques and see what works best for their playing style.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Martin, E. (2019). First, we took 48” x 24” x 1” pieces of plywood and cut out the center circle in the plywood. In order to do this, we drilled a pilot hole into the wood, then we took the hand saw and cut the hole out. After completing this we worked on the frame of the corn hole set. We took pieces of wood and cut out 24 and 48 inch segments. We then used the metal 90 degree clamps, laid out our wood in the frame and drilled it together. We then used the silhouette to create a stencil. Using the stencil, we painted on the Cottage Club logo, outlining it with black paint and painted the rest of the logo white. Once the logo was painted on, we then painted the rest of the board maroon and we also added the words “cottage club” to board and painted them white and black. After this was completed, we shifted our focus to the legs of the boards. We took more wood and cut them diagonally in order for the board to sit flat once it was finished. We took hinge screws and drilled holes into the frame of the board and the legs. Once this was completed we screwed them in and we had working hinge legs. The last thing that we needed to do for the board was the speakers. We attached the speakers to the sides of the boards using Velcro so that we can take them off to charge in the future. Lastly, we needed to add a finish to the boards. We used the finish we bought in class and painted it onto the boards, giving it a sophisticated look.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_media_grid grid_id=”vc_gid:1557175797593-d22d75e6-9cf2-6″ include=”781,782,783,784″][vc_zigzag css=”.vc_custom_1553988664868{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text]

Final Result

[/vc_column_text][vc_media_grid grid_id=”vc_gid:1557175797594-255064e3-59af-8″ include=”785,786,787,788″][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_zigzag el_border_width=”8″ css=”.vc_custom_1553988634650{margin-bottom: 20px !important;}”][vc_column_text] Students [/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”780″ img_size=”medium” css=”.vc_custom_1557175804355{margin-bottom: 0px !important;border-bottom-width: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Frankie Derosa Woodrow Wilson, 2021[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”779″ img_size=”medium” css=”.vc_custom_1557175809314{margin-bottom: 0px !important;border-bottom-width: 0px !important;}”][vc_column_text]Danny Hampton Economics, 2020[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner…

[12

post-339","page","type-page","status-publish","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-12
["GET
