Project Description
The goal of our project was to create a windmill capable of producing electricity. As a planet, we are desperately in need of finding renewable energy sources, and wind is a great alternative to fossil fuels. Thus we wanted to create a small windmill to model how these devices harness the power of wind to spin their blades and produce energy.
Our fabrication process consisted of background research, sketching various designs by hand, choosing a design, sketching the final design on Fusion360, and finally 3d printing the pieces and assembling them. We took inspiration from existing designs for blades, because if it worked for others, it can definitely work for us. The hardest part was constructing our blade and stand to perfectly match the dimensions of the motor we had purchased. After we created the sketches on Fusion360, we triple checked they were sized properly and the pieces were printed. Luis assembled the stand with the blades and mounted the motor as well. Thanks Luis!
