Project Description

For my project in the past few semesters, I dived into two 3D projects, one for a custom keyboard and another for a custom midi controller with knobs. I have been interested in custom keyboards for a while and have always wanted to make one with a custom 3D printed case, I then also decided to make a MIDI controller because the budget allowed it and I thought it would pair well with the keyboard. For the keyboard, I used largely already available designs as it was rather complicated to get a tight fit with the PCB but I custom-designed my own case for the MIDI controller.

After many, many attempts, I was able to successfully print all cases, solder some components and assemble and paint most of the boards for both. Sadly there are still a couple of steps left because every 3D printing attempt took days at times to get right but I am confident I will finish it in the next few days. All that is left now is to finish soldering all pieces onto the board through the case and binding them all together, which I will do in the coming days with MakerLab hours.
