Project Description
Our project is to create a 3-D printed puzzle box, where the two pieces of the box interlock into place by sliding metal rods that fit in between the holes of the two pieces. The aim of the project is to give users a nice puzzle to figure out how the locked box can be unlocked, hence a puzzle box.
Steps
Finalize STL file for all pieces of the project with exact dimensions
3-D print pieces
Receive and order all project materials in the mail
Assemble the pieces of the puzzle box, testing out if the locking mechanism works properly
Order new materials or print additional pieces if certain modifications need to be made
Further Steps to extend
Introduce a hybrid design with another puzzle concept to extend around or within this puzzle box
This would entail the substeps of…
-Experimenting with the puzzle box we already built
-Creating dimensions for a puzzle box that would live around or within this
puzzle box
-Or…scaling the box we already produced up or down and remaking it to
make the hybrid design more feasible
-Create a new series of stl files for the 2nd puzzle layer box 3-d print the new
pieces
-Receive and assemble the hybrid design (if necessary) remake the stl files for
one or both puzzle boxes to improve the fit
