I will be using a dataset from the Lancet about doula care across the maternity care continuum and impact on maternal health which evaluates doula programs across three states using propensity score matching evaluation of doula care. With my data visualization I hope to effectively demonstrate examine when over the maternity care continuum and with whom (i.e., clinical providers) doula care provides the greatest benefits to clinical health outcomes and health care utilization; and whether women gain differential benefits from doulas depending upon race/ethnicity and health status. I think the first goal can be effectively represented with network charts and a time line. I am still working through how I want to represent the second goal, but I think a comparative series of bar charts might be effective.
