This image was the cover for the Vogue magazine from March 1, 1957 (not exactly an advertisement, but I thought the concept was similar enough and appropriate for this discussion). The Vogue archive has a collection of every single magazine cover, and it was interesting to see the collection of 1950s and 1960s. This particular covered reminded me of the photoshoot Louise had with Vogue, right before Rose’s Turn.  Scanning through the Vogue covers highlights the departure of Gypsy and the character of Rose from the traditional, boy-meets-girl love story that embraces the conventional view of beauty. Lastly, I revisited the scene when Rose says to Louise, “[I] just wanted to be noticed”, and I could empathize with Rose’s remorse a little bit more.
