Which tools to use for measurements? and How\u00a0should they be\u00a0used?<\/li>\n<li>Science and Analysis &#8211; What is maximum possible performance? Why is actual performance less?<\/li>\n<li>Maintenance &#8211; How do parts wear and fail?\u00a0 How can design minimize wear and breakage?\u00a0 How can design\u00a0facilitate maintenance?<\/li>\n<li>Design Tools &#8211; How to use computer aided design (CAD) tools for design and analysis?<\/li>\n<li>Evolution &#8211; How has our bike evolved? And why?\u00a0How are modern bikes different?\u00a0 What is the future of motorcycle design?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tuesday Lab: Look over and compare &#8217;58, &#8217;62, &#8217;63, and &#8217;64 Cubs. &#8217;64 Cub (bike this year) is close to working &#8211; we think &#8211; condition is precisely as received. \u00a0Plan is to try to get it to the point that we can see if it will start. \u00a0Four teams &#8211; oil drain and fill, gas tank removal and inspection, electrical assessment and repair, carb and throttle,determine rocker arm gaps using feeler gauge, check compression. \u00a0By end of day the bike is back to a point that it could be tried out. \u00a0Spark achieved &#8211; points needed cleaning. \u00a0Carb was OK, tank was OK, oil drained from three chambers.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday Class: Discuss introductions of ZAMM and SCAS. \u00a0Plan Lab.<\/p>\n<p>Thursday Lab: Added oil and gas to &#8217;64. \u00a0Took all 4 cycles out to parking lot. \u00a0All 4 cycles started, including the &#8217;64. \u00a0Great start.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tuesday Class: Formulate course objectives. \u00a0Plan lab activity.
