Take the plugs out so the gas evaporates<\/li>\n<li>Hint: if you smell gas, there is gas in the chamber<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u201cPlugs\u201d: spark plugs, they are burnt out if they can\u2019t produce a spark\n<ul>\n<li>If burnt out, re-gap the plug to make the gap the right size<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>\u201cPoints\u201d: electrical contacts that get opened and control the spark, if the gap is corroded the spark is lost<\/li>\n<li>\u201cDead reckoning\u201d: navigating with a compass and stopwatch rather than a map<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Plot content:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Setting: on a bike trip heading West, with son Chris (roughly age 13) and friends Sylvia and John<\/li>\n<li>Disagreement with John over principles of learning to repair own motorcycle<\/li>\n<li>Technology vs. anti-technology, classical (scientific) vs. romantic (artistic) theme<\/li>\n<li>\u201cChautauqua\u201d: an old-fashioned form of radio talk show that was replaced by faster-paced radio and TV; similar to comparison between narrator and John<\/li>\n<li>\u201cWhat is best?\u201d as a theme is introduced<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>ZAMM Chapter 2:<\/p>\n<p>Motorcycle terms:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u201cSeizure\u201d: when the cylinder overheats, expands, and melts to the sides of the piston wall in air-cooled engines\n<ul>\n<li>How to fix this?
