Oral Activities
In CHI405& 406, students engage in structured oral activities that combine real-world scenarios with creative role-play and critical thinking. Topics range from personal dilemmas and consumer culture to academic discussions on economics, identity, and social values.
Each student is encouraged to take on a perspective, develop arguments, and express themselves clearly in Chinese.
What you’ll find here are selected audio recordings from student work. For example:
-
One student plays the role of a friend trying to advise someone who wants to break up with her boyfriend due to financial concerns, offering advice on finding balance between love and material desires.
-
Another takes on the role of an economist, analyzing youth consumption habits in China or the U.S. and giving practical financial advice to avoid debt.
- Relationship & Consumption Role Play: Students take on roles such as a concerned friend or an economist, offering advice and insights on issues like luxury spending, financial pressure, and love—highlighting how personal values and social realities intersect.
