The first illustration of the work combines images with the slogan “Let’s Take the Blizzard of the Revolution – the USSR –

Insert the Pulse of Life of America –

And Create: Work – Regulated Like a Chronometer.”

The “blizzard of the revolution” is conveyed through an image of Lenin’s head in profile, from whose mouth issues an overpowering windstorm.

The “pulse of life” is conveyed by a huge dial spinning clockwise.

America is represented by a skyscraper. The overall positive reference to America and the focus on boosting work efficiency seems to allude to Taylorism, a set of scientific time management principles conceived by American engineer Frederick Taylor. These principles, designed to increase work productivity, were popular in the early years of the Lenin era.

Between “work,” “regulated” and “chronometer” are a set of revolving cogs.
