Engineering & Society

Living in an increasingly complex, technology-driven society , tomorrow’s leaders must have a broad understanding of the global, economic, environmental, and cultural forces that shape and are shaped by technology.

The Keller Center for Innovation in Engineering Education develops and supports a broad set of opportunities for students—including courses, lectures, and other real-world, experiential activities—to help them develop an understanding of technology in its full societal context. These activities expose students to problems that span engineering, the natural sciences, the humanities, and the social sciences.

As students begin to consider their postgraduate plans, summer internships play a vital role in helping them explore different paths. Through the center’s Preparing to Lead summer internship program, students gain hands- on experience at companies where they are mentored by senior leaders. Through the Leadership in a Technological World lecture series, successful leaders in technology are brought to campus and offer a variety of stories and perspectives on the complex path to success in a rapidly changing world.

As  your browse our web site, you will also learn about student-driven projects—in the Princeton community as well as in the developing world—where engineers and non-engineers work together to develop and deploy technological solutions that have a meaningful impact on the communities they serve. Projects are supported by committed donors, the Keller Center, and other University resources.
